SKADAR
Lake Skadar
is the biggest lake in the Balkans. The last habitat of pelicans and
the biggest bird refuge in Europe.
OSTROG MONASTERY
Ostrog
Monastery - the biggest sanctuary in Montenegro and one of the most
well-known sanctuaries in Southern Europe is located high in the rocky
mountains, often veiled by clouds and fog. It was founded by the Herzegovinian Metropolitan Vasilije in the 17th century. Ostrog is
visited by believers of all faiths because it is believed that relics of
St. Vasilije of Ostrog are miraculous.
CETINJE and the LOVCEN MAUSOLEUM
The town
was founded in 1482. Museums, galleries, a monastery and the old
Embassy and Consular buildings are only a small part of Cetinje’s draw
as one of the most attractive tourist centres in modern Montenegro.
BUDVA
This town
is considered one of the oldest on the Adriatic. The open-air stage is
located inside the walls and offers visitors a number of spectacles
including the promotion of literary works, concerts and exhibitions.
Many people refer to Budva as a town of theatre and festivals and call
it the tourist capital
of Montenegro because of the many things on offer, the wonderful riviera,
exclusive hotels and restaurants.
TARA CANYON
Stunning
scenery, narrow passes, raging rapids, steep banks and abysses make this
canyon irresistible for everybody seeking adventures and fun. The canyon
is 82km long and 1300m tall in some places.
BOKA KOTORSKA
Kotor,
Herceg Novi and Tivat are just a few of the many beautiful coastal
towns found in Boka Kotorska Bay. The southernmost fjord in Europe
designated a UNESCO world heritage site.
MOUNT DURMITOR
NATIONAL PARK
The Black
Lake is the most well-known of the 17 glacier lakes on this mountain. It
is blanketed in snow in the winter and it is visited by numerous
bathers in the summer. This natural oasis is rich in flora and fauna -
there are 1,600 different kinds of plants and a rich diversity of animal
life.
Home to the Ice Cave, which contains stalactites and stalagmites all
year round. During the summer, you can enjoy hiking, biking, fishing or
rafting and during the winter, skiing.
Zabljak is the highest town in the Balkans 1,456 meters above sea level
and surrounded by 23 majestic mountain peaks.
BIOGRADSKA GORA
Situated in
the north eastern part of Montenegro, between the Tara and Lim rivers
the National Park was established in 1952. It occupies an area of 5,650
hectares. Surrounded by mountain peaks, crossed by streams and valleys,
decorated with beautiful lakes, adorned with century-old trees and tame
meadows, the most impressive natural site in this National Park is the
primeval forest
Biogradska gora,
one of the last three primeval forests in Europe.
The beautiful Biogradsko lake is situated in the heart of the forest and the entire
beauty of an old forest is reflected on the clear water giving it a
blue-green colour. |
